Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach will host a full moon beach hike Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.
Join Ranger Lauren for a full moon beach hike! All ages welcome, minors must be accompanied by an adult. The hike will leave from the beachside day use pavilion. Please bring water, a flashlight and dress for the weather. Hike will be less than a mile long. This event is included in regular park entrance fees of $5 per carload of two to eight people, $4 for one person in a car and $2 per pedestrian or bicyclist.

Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach will host the program Dangers of the Deep on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
Join a ranger to learn about the dangers of the ocean, including sharks, rays, rip currents, red tide and more! This program will prepare any beachgoer to be safe while enjoying the ocean. Learn how to protect yourself and the environment. All ages are welcome.

Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Class

Second Chance Rescue is sponsoring a Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Class presented by the Florida State Animal Response Coalition on Satruday, February 11, 2012. This class is free and space in limited, so please register at www.flsarc.org and click on training. During a disaster, animals rely on us to protect them. Trained volunteers are needed during disasters. This one day course will give you the needed skills to help shelter animals in their greatest time of need. No animal should be left behind because there is no place to go. We are committed to being there for animals and their families because we know the ENTIRE family matters.

Citrus Harvest Festival

Mark your calendar for the upcoming Citrus Harvest Festival to be held on Saturday, February 11th, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Friends of Washington Oaks State Gardens and the Flagler County Master Gardeners Club. The historical gardens within the park contain a citrus grove with several varieties of oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons and limes, providing the perfect environment for you to enhance your knowledge about citrus.
Event activities will include citrus-themed presentations; including the history of citrus, crafting with citrus, cooking with citrus, and troubleshooting citrus problems. Also scheduled for the event are a citrus fruit sale, a citrus baked goods sale, garden tours, and a plant and merchandise sale.
Flying Dragon Citrus Nursery of Jacksonville will be selling cold-hardy citrus trees in 3 and 5 gallon containers. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All event proceeds will benefit the Friends of Washington Oaks State Gardens and the Flagler County Master Gardener Club.

Second Saturday Plant Sales always feature plants that are unusual and hard to find. Choose from a large selection of bromeliads, butterfly plants, cactus, ferns, natives, pitcher plants, succulents and ti plants. Many of the plants were propagated and grown in the park by volunteers. All proceeds benefit the park for enhancement of current and new facilities.

Calling all wine & chocolate lovers. A decadent and delicious Wine & Chocolate Walk will be held on Saturday, February 11 from 1pm to 6pm in Downtown Daytona Beach.
Attendees will spend the afternoon strolling through Downtown Daytona Beach visiting over 30 stations enjoying wine tasting and delectable chocolate goodies.
Also featured will be an ice sculpting demonstration, live music and a Sweetheart Get-Away Give-Away.
Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.winechocolatewalk.eventbrite.com or by visiting Cinematique or Stacey Lipton's Interiors in Downtown Daytona Beach. Tickets are $15 in advance - $18 the day of the event.
Downtown Daytona Beach is a destination in itself with several blocks of restaurants and shops all facing a beautiful riverfront park.

Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach will host a Second Saturday Gamble Jam on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at the Intracoastal Pavilion on the day use side of the park.
Jam out at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area for Second Saturday Jam Session in the park. Musicians of all levels are encouraged to bring instruments and a chair to join the circle for a casual acoustic jam session. Instruments of all types are welcome but no power is available near the pavilions.
Feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Pre-registration is requested. To reserve a spot at the program, please contact Lauren Swanson at (386) 517-2086 or via email at Lauren.Swanson@dep.state.fl.us. Event is subject to cancellation due to weather conditions. Those with reservations will be notified in the event of a cancellation. This event is free with regular park entrance of $5 per carload of two to eight people, $4 for one person in a car and $2 per pedestrian or bicyclist.
